I’ve been creating and making things since I was a little girl. I think I started with potholders at about age 4. I got into knitting and ceramics as a teenager. Then I started making jewelry when my Grammy passed away and I ended up with all her old jewelry-making tools and supplies.
In 2009 I was diagnosed with stage III colorectal cancer and spent many months in the dance with chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. In the midst of all that, I awoke one night with an idea for “assembling” an angel out of found objects that were tucked away in a closet. I got out of bed and started arranging bits and pieces, gluing and nailing and screwing things together. I think I was literally gluing myself back together in a way. Wherever that angelic inspiration came from, it probably saved my life as I am now cancer-free (thank heaven!) and creating daily.
